AVOID - Be aware of the WX conditions and be prepared for the possibility of IIMC or loss of visual reference. Always maintain situational awareness and pay close attention to weather changes.
RECOVER
- Attitude (Level the wings on the attitude indicator)
- Heading (Maintain the aircraft heading, turning only to avoid known obstacles
- Power (Adjust engine power to applicable climb power)
- Airspeed (Adjust airspeed to climb airspeed, after the aircraft is stabilized
NOTE: Once established on instruments above 60kts, engage A/P upper modes
- Climb to the Minimum Safe Altitude
- De-goggle when safely able (if applicable)
- Contact appropriate ATC or use Guard (121.5) and DECLARE AN EMERGENCY
- Set transponder to squawk "7700"
- Request vectors to VFR conditions or if no VFR, request IFR clearance to nearest appropriate landing facility with an approach.
- Brief other personnel on board of situation (if applicable)
